Mary's Story

Sure, her floors had dried but she was left with damage to drywall, floors and some cabinets. Even worse, black toxic mold had set in and her family had begun to suffer. To add insult to inquiry, her claim only covered the drying machines with the insurance company informing her she had reached her limit.

However, this story has a good ending. As a licensed Public Adjuster I was able to intervene. Being her advocate through the whole process I was able to focus on bringing her home back to the way it was before the leak. With enough money recovered Mary was able to hire a contractor that repaired her home including all rooms affected by water damage. They replaced the flooring, vanity, drywall, and baseboards, including the carpet in her daughter’s bedrooms. With fresh paint, along with mold and fungus treatment, the house smelled fantastic!

When someone asks me what I do, I tell them Mary’s story

Juan & Rosa's Story

The letter from the insurance company’s claims department stated the damages “did not meet the deductible” which left them with no cash for repairs. Fortunately for Juan and Rosa, a friend gave them advice that was the break they needed.

That good neighbor strongly suggested that a Licensed Public Insurance Adjuster should be their next call. After a consultation with them, the first thing I did was take new pictures to document all the damage, took moisture and thermal readings and otherwise did a thorough and professional evaluation of their situation.

By negotiating with their insurance company on their behalf, I was able to help them get their claim maximized and bring in enough money to replace the roof and do all the repairs, inside and out.

The neighbor’s referral was the break Jaun and Rosa needed giving them a very satisfying ending to their story.

Doris & Harold's Story

What they eventually learned from a plumber was that the old rotted drain pipe from their kitchen sink – the one that was buried and leaking inside the block wall, was building a reservoir of nasty smelling kitchen waste water which kept seeping out under the cabinets.

When the plumber busted out the block to get to the pipe for repair, that mess just flooded the floor and the rest of the cabinets.

What should have been a claim for a full restoration job resulting in a rebuilt kitchen, Doris and Harold decided to do nothing, which was the worst outcome.

Harold ended up re injuring his back doing the best he could to clean and patch things up. But the real story was Doris. She was recovering from the ravages of chemotherapy following her breast cancer surgery and “just couldn’t handle anything” at the time.

Sadly, no nice settlement using an Independent Adjuster. No small check from their insurance company after the deductible. Just a do-it-yourself patch job covering up the repaired pipe along with some very amateurish cabinet repair.

This type of outcome only serves to motivate me to help as many people as I can.

Juan & Rosa's Story

Juan and Rosa were in a tight spot when a storm damaged their home. Their roof, windows and interior ceilings were all affected and left them with more damage than first realized.
The insurance company adjuster’s visit hardly seemed adequate to make any kind of evaluation – just a few quick pictures and then leaving. Read More

This story doesn’t really end well. It was the worst of three potential outcomes and I feel sad about it. I suppose their age and health situation were factors but still, I could have made things right.
It was the persistent bad smell that seemed to come from under their kitchen sink that was the problem. Read More
